Pure-FTPd is a free (BSD), secure, production-quality and standard-conformant FTP server. It doesn’t provide useless bells and whistles, but focuses on efficiency and ease of use. It provides simple answers to common needs, plus unique useful features for personal users as well as hosting providers.

Pure-FTPd is a fast, production-quality, standard-conformant FTP server, based upon Troll-FTPd.Unlike other popular FTP servers, it’s designed to be secure in default configuration, has no known buffer overflow, it is really trivial to set up and it is especially designed for modern Linux kernels (setfsuid, sendfile,capabilities). It was also successfuly compiled on FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD. Features include PAM support, IPv6, chroot()ed home directories, virtual domains, built-in ‘ls’, anti-warez system, bounded ports for passive downloads, FXP protocol, bandwidth throttling, ratios, LDAP and more.

Now, the version has updated to 1.0.22 (updated on April 23, 2009).
